Private sector stakeholder engagement for public sector biodiversity push
01
The issue:
Aligning public and private resources for nature positive market creation
In the lead up to hosting a global sustainability event, an Australian government department aimed to engage with the business community to better understand their ESG roadblocks. They asked us to help build private sector commitment to a large upcoming nature positive initiative, and ultimately encourage private sector investment in an emerging biodiversity market.
02
Our solution:
A stakeholder engagement strategy designed to build long term relationships
We developed an agile stakeholder engagement process to identify key ASX200 business sector stakeholders with an interest in, or impact on nature. Our engagement explored how these companies were mitigating their nature-based sustainability risks and what outcomes they wanted to see from public sector initiatives to spark a new biodiversity market.
03
Driving results:
Clarity on a shared voice for a nature positive future
Combined with best-practice analytical research, and in sensitivity to political and commercial priorities, we brought the stakeholder engagement findings to life for the Department with executive briefings to guide the government’s outreach to business, and a thought leadership whitepaper to inform the event agenda and broader debate.
